Attaining to the Full Stature of Christ

EQUIPPED ONE ANOTHER FOR SERVING BY SERVING

THE CHURCH IS CALLED TO EQUIP ONE ANOTHER FOR SERVING BY SERVING

“to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” Eph. 4:12

A. The Call: Serving Others Above Yourself

B. The Hindrance: The “My-Ministry-Idol”

MATURE MANHOOD - JESUS PATH OF OBEDIENCE

MATURE MANHOOD – JESUS PATH OF OBEDIENCE

“until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ…” Eph. 4:13

“in the days of His flesh, He offered both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His devotion. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation.” Hebrews 5:7-8 ‘

A. The Call: “Endure suffering as discipline, for God is treating you as sons” Hebrews 12:7-8

B. The Hindrance: “Misapplying the ‘finished work of the cross’”

HOLDING TO THE TRUTH IN LOVE

HOLDING TO THE TRUTH IN LOVE

“so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” Eph 4:14-16

A. The Call: To weather the storm of deception by the anchor of the apostolic truth

B. The Hindrance: We have embraced an everything-is-awesome mentality with regards to doctrine

C. Our Response: “Grow up in all things” as we repent of our ideals and embrace “the real”

      1. Reconnecting to the authority of scripture
      2. Our personal application of the cross with regards to our depravity
      3. Embracing an authentic ministry of service
