The Mystery of the Kingdom - Jesus’ Parables

Jesus’ parables are fundamentally moral in nature (understood within the common Jewish eschatology of the day), designed to evoke repentance among unbelievers, ie “those outside” (Mk 4:11). This is in contrast to the common knowledge-based approach, in which Jesus is communicating some kind of new spiritual and/or realized idea of the kingdom of God.
