Babel, Fallen Powers And Blessing

Melchizedek Seminar – Part 2
DESCRIPTION
In order for us to fully appreciate Jesus’ role as high priest in the order of Melchizedek, we not only need to understand the view of reality presupposed by the teaching about Melchizedek in the New Testament. We also need to understand the Biblical storyline leading up to the appearance of Melchizedek in Genesis 14. For reasons that we discuss in this teaching, following the tower of Babel event it is assumed in Scripture that when there is conflict among the nations or against Israel, both human beings (especially kings) and the fallen cosmic powers are operating together in tandem (e.g. Dan. 10). This provides the backdrop for Genesis 14, where God, the one true Creator seated above the fallen powers, gives Abraham and his tiny “army” a miraculous victory in battle against five Gentile kings and their imposter false gods. This is where we first see Melchizedek show up on the scene. Join us as we examine Melchizedek’s role in light of the dramatic events of Genesis 11-13.
