City With Foundations

ARTISTS
Written by Tim and Emily Miller, Rich and Grace Parks
DESCRIPTION
This song developed over time through the 2011 summer during home-based morning prayer meetings in Duluth, MN. The Miller and Parks families had the joy of living together in an old Victorian house near Lake Superior. This song became a prophetic banner of sorts over both families based on the Lord sifting each heart in many different ways. Most of the song came forth during the process of each family purging many of their belongings in preparation for big life transitions in the Fall. Just as Abraham did, we look forward to the City with foundations, the New Jerusalem. City With Foundations is part of the One Hope One Boast album.

LYRICS
Gen. 11-12; Is. 24; Jer. 4:23-26; Heb. 1:9, 11:8-16; 1 Pet. 1:13-17; Jude 23; Rev. 16:19, 17:1-2, 15-18, 18:4, 19-20
Been intoxicated for way too long on things that will not last
Drinking from the golden cup, that is in the harlot’s hand
But now I’m gripped by a holy vision of a city still to come
So I’ll come out the city destined for fire for the New Jerusalem!
I will leave Babylon behind, to go to a new land that You’ve promised is mine
We’re looking for the city with foundations
The New Jerusalem is our fascination
Cities made with brick and mortar, their tops in the heavens fill the landscape of this age
Built on altars to demons, the verdict’s been pronounced, they will share in Sodom’s fate
So by the power of the cross, I will walk as a pilgrim with Your city in my sight
Until I’m standing in Zion, the city of my God, with the Lamb as its light
May we hate wickedness and love righteousness
