Why Jesus’ People Should Long for His Return

In 2 Timothy 4:8, the apostle Paul says, “There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing” (2 Tim. 4:8, CSB). Why should Jesus’ people love, or “long for” (NIV), His return? Because when He descends on the clouds of heaven in power and glory, He will, among many other things, put an end to death, bring about perfect fellowship, set up a perfect kingdom of righteousness, remove evil from His creation, vindicate God's name, restore all things, and punish the powers of the air.
