The Seven Churches
ARTIST
Stephen Holmes
DESCRIPTION
The Holy Spirit gave me this melody a few years ago which slowly developed into this song taking years to finish. The first two verses are meant to set us on edge, begging us to hear Jesus strong rebuke in Revelation 2 and 3 to the 7 churches. While seeking to remain true to the Scriptures, a little deviation was used to articulate issues in the Western church particularly–not because it’s worse, but because it’s who I am most experienced with (However, the concept should be used personally, nationally, and internationally since it is the objective word of God). While starting as a dirge, the song ends eerily with the rewards of Revelation 2-3 whispered ironically begging us to hear the Spirit’s words of hope and repent before His second coming so that we might receive those very rewards.

CHORDS AND LYRICS
The lyrics to this song are below without chords. If you would like to have the lyrics with the chords,
The Seven Churches
I hear a funeral dirge for the Western Church
I hear a song of lament… you say you’re alive but you are dead
Neither cold nor hot you say you’re clothed–you’re not!
You can’t see your wretchedness
Behold I stand and knock on the doors of your hearts
Be zealous and repent!
For those who I love I discipline
You have left your first love and become adulterous
You worship other God’s and immorality is permitted
And you’re caught between doctrines of vanity and meekness
Teaching prosperity and false blessing
But you’re ignoring My Sons death
And I am weeping over you My Bride
He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying
God is speaking turn and repent lest He remove your lampstand
To Him who overcomes:
I will grant to eat from the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God
He will not be hurt by the second death
I will give him some of the hidden manna to eat, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it
“I will give (him) authority over the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received from my Father; and I will give him the morning star.
I will clothe him in white garments and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels.
I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my new name.
To him who overcomes I will grant to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne.
He who has an ear let Him hear what the Spirit says to the churches!
