After teaching the final part of a 4 part series on Christ and the Cross with some junior youth, Jake Paurus shared a rap he had written.
Lyrics:
Despised, rejected, acquainted with grief
Our eyes , they beheld him, a worm not a king,
In the form of a servant and him suffering
His sorrow and grief we did not esteem
We mocked him, scoffed at, scorned n blasphemed
he was stretched out, pinned down, hung on the crossbeam
His visage disfigured beyond recognition
Like a lamb to the slaughter, went in quiet submission
Strength dried, brought down to the dust of death
With a loud cry, head bowed, offered his last breath
The Stripes on his back, the heavy strokes and blows
Was a debt that he paid though it was not his own.
He had no faults, but he took our iniquity
In his own body, he bore our sins on the tree
The weightiness and the depth who can fathom?
The King of glory, whose death was our ransom!
Behold the Servant! Behold the Branch!
Behold the king with the nail scarred hands
Behold the lion! Behold the lamb
on a throne in mt. Zion will sit the humblest man
Gods hidden wisdom now realized
Behold messiah and him crucified
All of us are like sheep who are strayin
The holy God gave his son as the payment
See The good shepherd lay his life on the line
In place of his flock, who were lost and blind
The highest king bowing low as a servant
To the point of death, undeserved and disturbing
Yet once for all, to bear the sins of the ungodly
The Messiah offered up his own body.
The one to whom every knee will bend
Was crushed and bruised for evil men
Oh the scandal of The crucified Christ!
Through his death he has reconciled,
Men to God together they will be
On the earth forever , they will sing
To the lamb and to the One who sits on the throne
Salvation and honor, belongs to Him alone!
Behold the Servant! Behold the Branch!
Behold the king with the nail scarred hands
Behold the lion! Behold the lamb
on a throne in mt. Zion will sit the humblest man
Gods hidden wisdom now realized
Behold messiah and him crucified
Beloved brethren, for your consideration
The lords patience, is for our salvation
As The day hastens and swiftly approaches
he’ll judge the nations, their deeds he exposes
When all is stripped and laid bare in his sight
Each one accounts for his deeds in his life
the Day will test and reveal it with flames
In the end, one foundation remains
O the cross, the riches of His mercy!
In the storm, no other rock as sturdy
In the coming the days, tribulation awaits
To be those counted worthy to escape
Is to bear the cross, the Master showed the way
To lose our life so in the end we can find it
When he appears and rewards the righteous
Behold the Servant! Behold the Branch!
Behold the king with the nail scarred hands
The lamb is the lion and and the lion the lamb
on a throne in mt. Zion sits the humblest man
