A. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied in the coming kingdom (Matt 5:6, 5:10, 6:33).
B. We will have confidence without shame at His coming because we practice righteousness (I John 2:28-29).
C. Practicing righteousness is obeying the 2nd table of the ten commandments which governs relations between people (forbidding murder, adultery, theft, lying and coveting). This is a preparation of purifying ourselves by right conduct in light of the way of life and righteousness when Messiah Jesus comes with His Kingdom (Isa 2:1-4; Luke 18:1-14; Rom 13:8-14; II Tim 3:16-17).
D. We must judge righteously in the midst of God’s people (Deut 1:13-17; Matt 18:15-20; I Cor 5:1-13; Gal 6:1-2; James 5:19-20; I John 5:16).
E. Warnings for those who practice unrighteousness in light of His coming Kingdom (Numb 15:30-31; Deut 17:1-13, 19:11-21; Matt 7:21-23; I Cor 6:9-10; II Cor 12:20-21; Gal 5:19-21; Eph 4:17-5:6; Col 3:5-9; Heb 10:26-31; Rev 21:8)
F. Our righteousness in this age will have continuity into righteousness in the age to come.
A. Messiah Jesus the righteous one will come again and rule the nations in righteousness (Ps 72:1-11; Jer 23:5-6, 33:14-16; Isa 9:6-7, 11:4-5, 16:5, 32:1).
B. Jerusalem will be called the city of righteousness (Isa 1:26-27, 32:15 18, 51:6; Dan 9:24; Zech 8:1-8).
C. All Jews “Israel” will be righteous in that day and the law “torah” will go forth from Zion/Jerusalem (Isa 2:1-4, 60:21; Jer 31:31-34; Rom 11:26-27).
D. God’s people, Jew and Gentile, will come into marriage with Jesus our bridegroom in righteousness, justice, lovingkindness, compassion and faithfulness (Isa 61:1-11, 62:1-5; Hos 2:14-23; Rev 19:7-10).
E. Righteousness will dwell in the new heavens and new earth (II Peter 3:10-14).
