<li>The focus of the book narrows from cosmic (creation, humanity, first generations) (Gen 1-9), to nations (Gen 10), to one family (Gen. 11:26 – 50). Genesis 1-11 puts the story of the patriarchs of Israel into their cosmic context. The God who chose Abraham is the Creator of all and the context of human wickedness in chapters 3-11 show why the election of Abraham was necessary.2</li>
