The Coming Age

1. The Coming Age is the culmination of the storyline:
a. Creation -> Re-creation:
i. Isaiah 46:9-10 – God’s endgame is certain
ii. Revelation 21:1-4 – As it was in the beginning, it will be in the end
iii. Isaiah 11: 6-9 – Earth filled with the knowledge of God: How???
b. “Eternal life” looks different than you probably have believed
i. Genesis 12:2-3 – Blessed to bless the rest of the families of the earth
ii. Jerusalem: The international “blessing” headquarters
1. Isaiah 2:2-4 Learning the Lord’s ways and global peace
2. Zechariah 8:2-3, 12-13, 20-23 Seeking the Lord in Jerusalem
2. Good News: Justice won’t delay forever!
a. Though we don’t see it now, God will make things right
i. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 “eternal glory” is “not yet seen”
ii. Hebrews 11:6 – Faith in God who will reward
iii. Isaiah 25:6-9 – “we have waited”
b. God will settle accounts
i. Luke 6:35 a great reward coming when deprived of recognition now
ii. Luke 14:13-14 – accounts settled in the resurrection
iii. Luke 18:1-8 – faith that clings to coming justice
3. The hope of Israel
a. Abraham’s faith
i. Hebrews 11:8-10 – Waiting for God to (re)build a city
b. Gentiles being joined to the hope of Israel
i. Romans 11:17-18 – “Grafted in” = became sharers of the same hope
ii. Ephesians 2:11-13 – “strangers to the covenants” = “having no hope”
1. NOTE: Israel had no commonwealth during Paul’s time, it was
about the future. Also, it doesn’t mean to become an Israelite. It
means that, like Canada and England, there are citizens from one
country who are legally enrolled as citizens of a greater nation so
that they can partake of the benefits
